As voice actors (and really as any kind of creative) the way we experience "successes" and "failures" in our work can feel like taking a ride on a rollercoaster. The rollercoaster goes up (wow, I just had two amazing sessions, the director LOVED me!) and inevitably the rollercoaster comes back down (I haven't had so much as a check avail this week, what is wrong with me?) While you don't have (much) control over the ride, you can make the landing a bit softer by building out your platform (the place your rollercoaster returns to). In this hands on session we will talk about the science behind the feelings we experience (think: hedonic treadmill) and develop a plan to manage those emotions, pick and choose from a menu of options to build out your self care toolkit, and brainstorm how to cultivate other outlets for your creativity while you're waiting to ride the rollercoaster again.
