Session Materials (If available)
There are a few ways for new character actors to break into professional voice acting and make a name for themselves. Audiobooks can give a multi-talented chameleon or dialect expert a chance to shine, self-produced, with an award structure in place for the world to see and recognize new talent. Games, due to the sheer volume of work and the need for worldwide characters to pass as an authentic local, as well as the need for multiple characters played by a single actor, can also be a launching pad for the career of an aspiring utility voice actor. But one sure-fire way to get everyone's attention is to preserve iconic character voices when the original actor is no longer able or available to keep that character alive. The same holds true for celebrity voice-matching. When an A-lister doesn't have the bandwidth to come in for the games, books, toys, etc. associated with their character's franchise, casting professionals are going to want an unknown actor who can pass for that celebrity, undetectable. In this workshop, we will discuss the art and nuance of channeling an existing icon, the DO's and DON'Ts of auditioning for someone else's role, and then we will dive deep into the nitty-gritty of tweaking and re-tweaking the sound of your voice to match the legends whose giant shoes you hope to fill. We will explore Schneider's Looping Method, which was developed and streamlined in her audition processes for these and other voice-matching roles. In this event, she will describe the method in detail, and how it can be used to expedite, streamline and perfect your voice-matching and character acting work, train your ears, and make you a more versatile actor.
